What is Alpha-Lipoic Acid?
Also known as thioctic acid, Alpha-Lipoic Acid is a surplus compound which could be classified as a B vitamin but for the fact that it can be synthesised within the body.
What does Alpha-Lipoic Acid do?
As a metabolic anti-oxidant it may inhibit damage to mitochondrial DNA. According to Free Radical Biology and Medicine (USA), 1996, 22/1-2 (359-378), it seems an ideal substance for dealing with free radical processes.
